Whale Watching at Van Damme State Park
When: April 7, 2012 Where: Mendocino County, Van Damme State Park Rating: Easy Miles: 2-3 miles
Meeting place for leaderless carpooling: 9 a.m. at Denny’s Restaurant, Ukiah, (Perkins and Hwy 101) Alternate meeting place: 10 a.m. Van Damme State Park, ocean side of Hwy 1. Leader David LaFollette will guide you north about a mile on the California Coastal Trail to a good view point where it is hoped we will see migrating gray whales as well as other animals and points of interest. Bring a lunch, drinking water, layers of clothing, and wear hiking boots or sturdy shoes with good traction. We’ll return to Van Damme parking about 1 p.m.
