Why join Coastwalk? Coastwalk members come from all walks of life: hikers and folks who just like to sit and enjoy the beach; elders and those just starting to discover the wonder of the coast. What draws us together is our shared vision of a coast with access for all, well-stewarded through education and service programs.

As a Coastwalk member, you join with a broad, grass-roots community committed to protecting our treasured California coast. Through Coastwalk, we speak as one voice to protect public access to our coastal places and to advocate for completion of the California Coastal Trail.

Your dues support a team of a very lean staff and hundreds of unpaid volunteers throughout the state.

These volunteers:

  • lead programs that educate people of all ages about the wonders of our coast and orchestrate beach clean-ups;
  • build public interest and excitement about the Coastal Trail, get new segments designated, and get signs placed along it;
  • represent Coastwalk at public hearings, planning sessions and work with other organizations to protect and steward our coast.
