USE A BARREL BAG FOR YOUR CLEANUP

Coastwalk supports youth led non-profit Barrel Bag and includes them in all Cleanup Kits.

Located in Marin County, Barrel Bag is a nonprofit founded and run by youth, that works to educate outdoor enthusiasts about the negative impact that litter, particularly plastic, is having on our environment and to inspire them to take action.

We created the Barrel Bag to empower people to join our movement. It serves as a physical reminder to pick up after ourselves and others when we go outside to enjoy nature.

We hope that participating in cleanups inspires individuals to reduce their plastic dependencies, make responsible purchasing decisions, and become stronger environmental advocates.

LEARN MORE ABOUT AND HOW TO USE THE CLEANSWELL APP

When you collect and record the debris you have collected you BECOME A CITIZEN SCIENTIST!

TIP: INSTEAD OF USING A PAPER DATA CARD TO RECORD THE MARINE DEBRIS THAT YOU COLLECT USE THE CLEANSWELL APP

Meet Clean Swell – the trash collection mobile app created by the Ocean Conservancy promoting Trash Free Seas.

Join this global movement to keep beaches, waterways and the ocean trash free. Head out to your favorite beach and use the app to easily record each item of trash you collect. Then share your effort with family and friends.

Recycling & Sorting

When Conducting A Cleanup all debris removed needs to be sorted -into either  Trash or items to be Recycled. Sometimes it’s hard to be sure…so we included this printable poster below.

Whenever you can please take all debris home with you to dispose of instead of leaving it at the beach or in a county park, as garbage and recycling services have been limited to the COVID19 pandemic.
