Due to the COVID 19 pandemic California Coastal Cleanup Day will take a different form this year. Now more than ever our beaches, inland waterways and neighborhood parks need our attention. Clean water and protecting our watersheds are vital for a healthy environment and a healthy society.
Instead of a one-day gathering, Coastwalk and the California Coastal Commission are inviting you to “Protect Your Happy Place” in order to remove harmful debris while helping to slow the spread of the corona virus and asks all our volunteers to maintain all safety precautions recommended by the State of California Health Departments such as wearing a mask when in public and maintaining the safe social distancing protocol.
Honoring the spirit of the 36th Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day, Coastwalk has reimagined Coastal Cleanup Day and has created the Coastwalk Cleanup Crew.
More than just a one-day cleanup the Coastwalk Cleanup Crew program is intended to engage our community in being part of the solution in marine debris removal by encouraging multiple cleanups and data collection through-out the year and until we can safely hold a large event.
Individuals and Families (up to 6) can register, choose a beach to cleanup, get supply kits, instructions on safe cleanups and learn how to use the Clean Swell App to record the data on types of debris collected.
JOIN US in keeping our Coast beautiful all year long!
